Intended Stimulus

Faster athletes may finish this workout in under 7:00.

The loading on the overhead walking lunges and dumbbell snatches is intended to be light to moderate, where each may be performed unbroken. With that said, if you can complete the movements safely, then attempt the Rx’d load, even if it’s challenging.

The gymnastics bar work and ring muscle-ups will provide a significant challenge for most athletes and cause them to slow down. This can be a great day to attempt a “first” and grind out more reps than you typically attempt. Athletes may be driven to complete a first pull-up, chest-to-bar pull-up, or muscle-up. Celebrate these victories!

If someone can do pull-ups and chest-to-bars, but is still working on a muscle-up, they should attempt. Open magic may strike! And at worst, they can race for a tiebreak time along with everyone else who gets stopped at the muscle-ups.

Rx’d: (Ages 16-54)

Teenagers 14-15:

Masters 55+:

Scaled: (Ages 16-54)

♀ 20-lb (10-kg) dumbbell, jumping pull-ups, then pull-ups, then chest-to-bar pull-ups

♂ 35-lb (15-kg) dumbbell, jumping pull-ups, then pull-ups, then chest-to-bar pull-ups

Scaled Teenagers 14-15:

♀ 10-lb (5-kg) dumbbell, jumping pull-ups, then pull-ups, then chest-to-bar pull-ups
